Trust charity helps to bring lifesaving checks to patients

Thanks to funds from our charity and South West London Hepatology Network, a £80,000 FIBROSCAN ultrasound device has been purchased.

This machine is helping the Gastroenterology Team to support patients by measuring any scarring or fibrosis in the liver and identifies patients with chronic liver disease at an early stage.

Measuring liver scarring helps to influence and manage a patient’s care more effectively.. A large variety of treatment medications can have a toxic effect on the liver and it is vital to know the health of the liver prior to the commencement of these drugs.
