Croydon Health Charity Funds Cardiac Rehabilitation Support Group
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Team at Croydon University Hospital helps people recover after a heart attack or cardiac procedure; providing the knowledge and support they need to improve their heart health, well-being and quality of life post-hospital admission.
Thanks to our Charity's Cardiac Rehab Fund, a monthly Cardiac Rehabilitation Support Group is now thriving in East Croydon. Volunteer-led by former cardiac rehab patient, Jon White; the group brings together people with shared experiences, offering friendship, advice and reassurance.
Funds cover hall hire and refreshments, helping to create a supportive space for everyone.
In August 2023, Jon experienced a completely unexpected heart attack. A keen cyclist who has completed numerous charity rides, including the London to Brighton Bike Ride in support of our Cardiac Rehab Fund, says: "I am forever grateful to the ambulance crew, the Cardiac team at St George's, the Heart Failure team and my Rehab family at Croydon University Hospital."
The support group regularly welcomes more than 50 people and features expert guest speakers on topics including medications, healthy living and long-term heart health.
We are immensely proud that charity funding supports Trust work across Croydon. Please get in touch with Clare; clare.parish@nhs.net if you would like to find out more about what we fund or how to fundraise for us.
