Lifeblood Suite supported by Trust Charity
Additional medical equipment funded by our charity is benefiting patients receiving care from The Lifeblood Suite.
The Suite provides chemotherapy, transfusions, venesections and intravenous iron infusions for around 30 patients every day, including children and adults.
Two new devices are helping to enhance the experience of patients by minimising pain and tissue damage, as well as reducing anxiety and saving valuable time.
An ‘AcuVein’ device was purchased by the Charity’s Lifeblood Fund which uses infrared light to project a glowing real time map of a patient’s veins directly onto their skin.
This cutting-edge device improves the process of accessing veins, particularly for those undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments that require a cannula to be placed in a vein. It is helping to reduce patient discomfort, as well as improving first-attempt success rates and lowering the risk of complications such as bruising and infections.
The Charity also purchased a dedicated ECG device for the Lifeblood Suite to help enhance monitoring and diagnostics, as well as patient literature display stands.
